16 month olds
Hi --

The community sure has been quiet lately. Is everyone super busy running around after their mobile 16-month-olds? What are the kids doing nowdays that's cute and amazing? Walking? Talking? Climbing? Signing? Sleeping?

The Niblet is picking up new words every day. It really is amazing to watch how fast she learns everything. She still wakes up at least once a night, but I think that's a bad habit I've created by bringing her into bed with us. Sooner or later, I'll have to get her used to sleeping the night in her own bed. I tell myself I'll do it when she weans. Age two, maybe?

I am thinking about potty training, too. Anyone embarked on THAT adventure yet? I wasn't going to bother until she was 18 months but she's started telling me BEFORE she poops in the last couple days. So we may be purchasing a potty chair in the near future.

I've always been told (and my psychology book says) to potty train around 2 but if she's already letting you know....:P

Caleb still refuses to start walking. Its getting harder and harder because I now have a 4 month old also. He babbles a lot and can say a few things but he's just so lazy :P

Yeah, I wasn't even going to *think* about potty training until 18 months. And if she wasn't ready then, so what? I am not stressed about it. Whenever it happens, it happens. But if she's motivated to get out of a dirty diaper then why not at least get her her own little chair and see what happens...

Didn't Caleb have an EI assessment? How did that go?

Yeah, we met with the lady that sets it up but I found out his cousin started walking at 18 months so I decided to wait a little bit to see how he's progressing and everything like that before I decide to take him. If he gets worse or takes much longer than that then I am definately going to take action.

Hailey is walking- scratch that- RUNNING everywhere, she just started climbing and still can't manage to get on the couch. All of a sudden her language skills have taken off like crazy and she has a vocab of about 50 words or so. Of course, lots are not terribly clear but she recognizes a lot of objects. We just discovered last night that she knows basically all of her body parts- even more obscure things like forehead and back.

We have a potty chair and I can get her to go pee pee in it occasionally but she much prefers her diaper. She still doesn't tell me before she's pooped so I don't think she's ready to go there. Good luck! Won't it be awesome to be done with diapers?

Aislin manages to get on the couch by standing next to it and shouting UP! until someone comes and lifts her up. Clever little monkey.

Aislin just said my best friend's name (Catherine) of course it sounds like Ka-Keen but we know what it means! And my friend was practically in tears! So cute.
